Programs and Projects added to 2009 BVLCAdult Participants were invited to part take in Bridal Veil Living Classroom for continuing education by receiving college credit from Mesa State College (Grand Junction, CO). Two adults participated.
One day was added on to Session One of BVLC, in July, to be creative in nature. Dr. Dan Collins joined the students in the field to inspire them by creating art following the natural practices of Scottish artist, Andy Goldsworthy.
Telluride High School Students were able to apply the Bridal Veil Living Classroom session towards their fall ISP (intensive study period) through the school. This enabled students and instructors to spend four work days on a retreat at a remote backcountry hut, working towards completing their scientific research papers.
A Ridgway High School Student (Brittney Manzagol), also participated in Bridal Veil Living Classroom in 2009, commuting every day from Ridgway, a neighboring watershed.
Vegetation monitoring plots were established and preliminary plant counts were taken by students and mentors at 12,000 feet in the alpine zone of Upper Bridal Veil Basin
