The Telluride Institute Tibet fund was established in January 2009, taking the Institute's mission to the roof of the world. The Fund was created with the goal of providing humanitarian aid to the people of Tibet. In accordance with TI's mission the Tibet Fund will support initiatives that help keep the ancient Tibetan culture alive, promote education and strengthen local economies. The Tibet Fund is run by Elisabeth Gick, a longtime Telluride local who "loves Tibet just as much as Telluride."
Over the past three years the Tibet Fund has been able to extend a helping hand to school children, nuns, earthquake victims and individuals.
We have worked with other aid organizations and charities when such cooperation facilitated getting the help to where it was needed most.
More than 100 donors have contributed to the Tibet Fund and I thank each one from the bottom of my heart.
Please keep coming back to this site from time to time for new information.
We are all members of one human family. I think that this understanding is very important, especially now that the world is becoming smaller and smaller. In ancient times, even in a small village, people were able to exist more or less independently... Today (however), for the future of the human race, it is more important than ever before that we develop a genuine sense of brotherhood and sisterhood. I usually call this a sense of 'universal responsibility'. HH the Dalai Lama
