Poet performer and poetry activist Lawton Eddy, who runs the very successful Season of Words series “Poetry Live at A Church” in Salida, will be in Telluride as off-season is ending to share new work and poems from her book Chasing Grace (2021) at a Talking Gourd’s Pop-Up-Poetry series for locals beginning at 1 pm on Friday, May 15th, at the Wilkinson Public Library magazine room.

Free and open to all. Bring a poem or story to share. The prompt is Chasing Grace.

Lawton Eddy has been playing with poetry since childhood days and it still keeps her young!  Co-creating Salida’s Sparrows Poetry Festival and performing original works with River City Nomads since the early 2000’s have been highlights.  Along with fellow nomad Craig Nielson, Lawton organizes the Salida poetry gathering now in its third year.

Her poems have appeared in regional magazines and newspapers and her many performances include Telluride Mushroom Festival, Crestone’s Poem Fest, the long-running C3 in Denver as well — as City Lights Bookstore in San Francisco.  Work from her 2021 collection, Chasing Grace – poems of a life, was featured in a multi-performance International Women’s Day celebration in Salida.
